Fear the Lord your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name. Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you; for the Lord your God, who is among you, is a jealous God and his anger will burn against you, and he will destroy you from the face of the land. Do not put the Lord your God to the test as you did at Massah. Be sure to keep the commands of the Lord your God and the stipulations and decrees he has given you. Do what is right and good in the Lord’s sight, so that it may go well with you and you may go in and take over the good land the Lord promised on oath to your ancestors, thrusting out all your enemies before you, as the Lord said. — Deuteronomy 6: 13-19
The Father is asking for you to stay in His presences, because that is where you will find your joy, purpose, peace, and love. And if you do not deviate from Him there will be no burden that you cannot bear and no obstacle that you cannot overcome in His name. We as believers in Christ tend to multiply our own duties and/or responsibilities with the things of this world and other gods (idols, money people, other gods), and not with what the Father has for us (staying busy doing nothing). This sinister practice allows you to feel as if you are accomplishing something here on earth within your own strength. The reason you feel accomplished and so eager to do the works of others and not of the Father; are because you are looking for the acceptance of others, and not from the One who lives in you. But, please allow me to light a candle in the midst of your darkness as a reminder that this life is not your own but to Him you belong.
Payer of Intercession
Father, Thank You for Your unmerited favor that You continue to pour upon us. Thank You for bringing us out of the darkness into Your marvelous light, and most of all thank You for forgiving us even when we don’t deserve it. You are and awesome God and there is no other God like you. So we will commit to obeying the Word that You have set forth for us so that we will receive our inheritance while discovering the joy and peace that we have in You. We thank you for our righteousness in Jesus Name — Amen.
