DEVOTIONAL SCRIPTURE
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8 (NIV)
DEVOTIONAL
I was reading an article yesterday about a new blanket that is out. It is for people who battle insomnia due to anxiety often linked to trauma. The blanket has plastic beads sown into it that makes it heavy. They have found in studies being covered with weight makes people feel relaxed and safe which in turn induces sleep. The weight actually touches pressure points in the body that relieves tension. I was thinking about this scripture in relation to that blanket. A blanket covers and the Word says that love does as well. When we expose someone by gossiping or talking about them we are uncovering them. The results are tension, stress and hurt. However when we cover them in love and instead of speaking bad about them, we extend grace and kindness and we are sowing peace and tranquility. Love covers, love protects, love is not self seeking. Love thinks of others more highly then it does itself. God has covered us, from the beginning He covered Adam and Eve when they discovered their nakedness. And today He covers those who believe with the Blood of Jesus. So let’s be imitators of our Lord and cover others in love as well.
PRAYER Of WORSHIP
Heavenly Father we thank you for your Love. Father we thank you that your Love never exposes us but covers and forgives us. God help us to be like you and cover one another as well in love. God we ask you to forgive us for any time we may have exposed another in gossip or malice. Thank You so much for covering us with Your perfect love, in Jesus Name, Amen.
