Do You Have the Faith of Noah?

DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE

Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].  For by this [kind of] faith the [a]men of old gained [divine] approval. By faith [that is, with an inherent trust and enduring confidence in the power, wisdom and goodness of God] we understand that the worlds (universe, ages) were framed and created [formed, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose] by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible. Hebrews 11: 1-3

By faith [with confidence in God and His word] Noah, being warned by God about events not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his family. By this [act of obedience], he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness which comes by faith. Hebrews 11:7

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Do you have the faith of Noah? I am speaking of a faith that is not contingent upon the ability of man, or one’s self, but a faith that relies totally on God. As a child when our parents or an adult will tell us something, we took it at face value never questioning the source, the intended purpose, or the person’s record of accomplishments for telling the truth.

I was talking to a good friend of mines recently, and he spoke in detail about his relationship that he had with his father growing up. He mentioned how as a kid he believed every LIE that his father would tell him for instances: I will pick you up this weekend, I will get you that toy, pair of shoes, outfit, etc. that you want. However, still to this day those promises are waiting in the far corners of his childhood to be fulfilled. Why want we put this kind of faith in God, His track- record exceeds him? Moreover, the word said, “ Jesus replied, “Have faith in God [constantly].  I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea!’ and does not doubt in his heart [in God’s unlimited power], but believes that what he says is going to take place, it will be done for him [in accordance with God’s will]. For this reason I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with God’s will], believe [with confident trust] that you have received them, and they will be given to you.” Mark 11:2-24

DEVOTIONAL PRAYER

Heavenly Father,

My prayer on today is that through Your word, Your love, and our obedience we will being to walk in the faith of Noah. We will begin to believe You for our impossible, because we know that You alone are possible. We will no longer measure our expected outcomes according to our own hands or the hands of man, but it will be based off our faith in You. Father, please forgive us for our disobedience; help us to hold on to our faith in You. Father, even in our darkest hours stay with us, and show us Your Way. We pray this prayer in Your Son Jesus’s Name, Amen!
