Fear is a Liar

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” ~2 Timothy 1:7

From this verse, the word of God is saying that God has not given us a spirit of fear. If God has not given us a spirit of fear, then someone has. Who is that person who gives us fear? That is the enemy of God, and we call him Satan. Fear is against faith and it is a liar. The fear that comes from the enemy is tormenting. Looking around us, it seems that Satan has succeeded to stop many from moving forward by means of this one evil power alone.  The word of God says, “Love casts out fear” (1 John 4:18). If you love God, and if you belong to God, then you do not have to worry about anything. People are afraid or worried about so many things. Fear stops people not only in the areas of witnessing and using spiritual gifts. The fear of rejection has hindered people from beginning wonderful relationships. The fear of failure has held many back from beginning wonderful enterprises. The fear of death paralyzes and torments many. There are many other kinds of fear. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but unfortunately, many Christians have received a spirit of fear at some time in their life. They received what the devil was handing out to them. Many times, they received it before they became Christians, and they have not known God well enough to get rid of it since that time. One thing is clear, no Christian received a spirit of fear from God.  The more of the divine love of God that we receive into our lives, the less scope there is for fear to get a grip. The word of God says, “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you” (Psalm 55:22).  God supplies our needs for today. Why should we worry for tomorrow? Why are we allowing fear to oppress us. This can and must be reversed.

Today we are praying based on the authority and power in the Name of Jesus, the Blood of Jesus, the Word of God, and the Power of the Holy Spirit to reverse, overcome and drive out the powers of darkness and lies of fear! You see unhealthy fear is a stronghold and this is not flesh and blood, but a principality, a power of darkness.  The Apostle Paul spoke about this in Ephesians 6:12, he stated that we wrestle against spirits of darkness and spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. This does not mean to say that Christians have no enemies among men that opposed them for they were exposed often to fiery persecution; nor that they had nothing to contend with in carnal and corrupt propensities of their nature which was true of them then as it is now; but that their main controversy was with the invisible spirits of wickedness that sought to destroy them. And fear seeks to destroy us.  We must always remember that we are to put on our armor of God (God’s Word) and to pray fervently as we go forth into this wicked world but also know that our God is far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. We have authority over all the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms which is given to us by Jesus dying on the cross. For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and evil. Therefore as we enter into Intercession, let’s pray to possess authority,  deliverance and victory from the lies of fear.

Meditative Prayer

Lord, I am a Blood bought child of God and  I plead the Blood of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ of Nazareth as a thick hedge of protection against all evil spirits , and Your Word is as a wedge between us that the enemy cannot penetrate. It is written in God’s Word that no weapon formed against me can prosper, I stand on the Word of God, He is my Shield and my Buckler according to Psalms 35:2. I thank you that you allow us say that You are our Lord, our refuge, our fortress and our God in whom we can trust. I ask You to cover each of us with Your feathers and let us walk under Your wings to take refuge. I ask You to let Your faithfulness and truth be our shield and armor. I thank you Lord that we will not be afraid of the terror by night; nor of the arrows that are thrown at us by day; nor of the deadly pestilence that walks in darkness nor of the destruction that waits us at noonday. I thank you Lord that we have faith that a thousand will fall at our side, and ten thousand at our right hand and that you Lord will not let any come near us.  I claim victory that fear has over our lives and I reject all the insinuations, accusations, and temptations of satan. Heavenly Father, I place all of my cares, all my fears, all of my anxieties, all of my worries and all of my concerns once and for all upon You, because I know that You love me and watch over me according to 1 Peter 5:7. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen!
