Fearfully Giving Produces Multiplying Seeds and Fruit

DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE

“Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.” (2 Corinthians 9:10)

DEVOTIONAL

According to God’s Words, people never perish for lack of money, “we perish for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). That knowledge includes the principles of sowing and reaping. Sowing is a fixed law that God has put into effect on this planet, and it will work for anyone! Ask any farmer or gardner anywhere in the world, and he will tell you, every time I sow seeds in the ground, I expect a harvest. I used to be confused on how to give (or “tithe”), what should be sown in order to see a harvest. But I knew that giving was the highest form of worship. I had been taught in the traditional church setting that giving monetarily is the only way to give. This principle is used quite often to make one feel as if they did not have it to give that they would be punished and not see a harvest. So I used to feel guilty if I did not have the money to give. I would be in a service during offering and I knew I only had $5 to my name and that was accounted for gas. I would feel so bad as I really didn’t have it to give, but I would – then I would pray that I make it home. In the traditional church environment, I felt as though they did not care about me having gas, they only cared about collecting the dollars. But as I started attending a non traditional ministry, that’s when I learned the true meaning of giving and how to tithe.

It does not state in the Word that the only way to  give is monetarily. It says we can give of our time, talent, and treasure, and when I was taught this I immediately begin to fearfully start giving in my time. At that particular juncture of my life, all I had was time. And once I started reaping the harvest I started to fearfully give with my treasure and then I began to see my seeds started multiplying.

I am so grateful for what God has done in me and my family lives, because without the transformation of my mindset, I would not be in this great place that I am in today. God has already given us everything we need: everything we need to meet our needs and get out of debt, everything we need to preach the Gospel. And it is all on earth right now! Therefore, each of us must address the real question: How do I access what God has already given me?

The key is in the seed! Everything you need is hidden in your seed.

DEVOTIONAL PRAYER

God I come before You today for my harvest. Father you said, “Let the earth bring forth” (Genesis 1:11), you gave the command for multiplication, but you also gave the seed to man. The earth has been commanded to produce, and when seed is sown, the harvest yields seed and fruit “after his kind” (Genesis 1:12). Thank you for multiplying our seeds. I fearfully and wonderfully praise you for all you have done in our lives and what you are doing in our future. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen.
