Good Stewardship Produces Peace

DEVOTIONAL

Each of you must bring a gift in proportion to the way the Lord your God has blessed you.   (Deuteronomy 16:17 NIV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Have you been a good steward over your money? Have you been sowing or should I say giving? The dictionary defines stewardship as  “the conducting, supervising, or managing of something; especially : the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care.” Well, most of us will not be honest and we really have not been good stewards over our money. Some of us know better and we still are irresponsible of what God has blessed us with. Do you know that every dollar we make we don’t really own it God does? So when you think you’re cheating Him, you’re really cheating yourself and hindering the blessings that He has for you. Look at this way if you took a test and you received 10% on it you wouldn’t feel really good about it right? You would have seriously failed 90% of the test. I have learned in my bible studies that we are only stewards, not owners of our money and possessions. If our Father owns everything, we are in agreement with Him by giving back to Him on a regular basis a sacrificial percentage – this is being a good steward. And what we have left, even though we have a choice as to how we spend it, it still belongs to God. Whether we own up to it or not God owns everything. When I grasped stewardship, I realized that all my money was under God’s control and I actually found the path to financial freedom as I became aware that I could seek Him for help with every decision. I can really say since I have been giving and sowing into fertile ground the blessings have been overflowing.

God’s Word claims He owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalms 50:10), once I understood this I knew that God was in control of all my money and how it flowed to me. What a relief to know that I do not have to worry about how my bills are going to get paid, where I would get monies from to pay for my kids extracurricular activities or if we encountered an emergency how we were going to pay for it. He’s my Source and Advisor on managing it all! I am so grateful to be in this place of financial peace.

DEVOTIONAL PRAYER

Father, thank You for forgiving me for yesterday’s wrong. God, thank You for life. Thank You for my family. Thank You for placing the right people in our lives. Thank You for all that we have and all that we are. God thank you for Your son Jesus, our Redeemer, who came among us to show us the way to eternal life. Thank you for showing us how to be good stewards of what we have. Thank You for blessing me. Thank you for showing me how to sow and how to be a blessing to the right people. God, I just want to thank You for waking me up this morning to have another chance at making things right, in Jesus name we pray, Amen
