DEVOTIONAL SCRIPTURE
“Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.” Proverbs 21:21
MEDITATION
The book of Proverbs is a great book to read when you are seeking to gain spiritual insight. Proverbs provides insightful wisdom and knowledge and you’ll also find instruction and practical application for life issues. But sometimes we don’t stop long enough in what we call the rat race to obtain the good life, material riches and fame. But stopping to seek this wisdom is essential especially as we enter into the daily grind. The battle is fierce and endless—people getting trampled over, relationships are broken and the appetite becomes insatiable.
The scripture above opens our eyes to exactly what God promises as opposed to the distortion. God promises life, prosperity and honor to each one of us if we pursue a lifestyle of righteousness, which is moral right standing with God, and one of love. A love that is patient and kind, not jealous, boastful, proud or rude. It does not demand its own way and is not irritable, nor does it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice when injustices occur, but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. When we operate in this kind of love, we find life, prosperity and honor
PRAYER CONFESSION
Father, I humbly come before you asking you to help me get out of this rat race that leads only to the perversion of your true promises of life, prosperity and honor. I confess that I may not have always pursued your love, but today I confess that I will pursue a life of righteousness and love with my heart, soul and mind. In Your Son Jesus Name, Amen.
