Devotional Passage

“For this is the will of God, that you should be consecrated (separated and set apart for pure and holy living): that you should abstain and shrink from all sexual vice.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:3

This is powerful. We often want to know God’s Will and here in this verse this Scripture tells us directly His Will. Can there really be any question when one reads these words as them meaning anything other then what they say? I have really gone way out of His Will in this area big time in my past, even as a born again believer. I have lived and felt the consequences of sexual sin in major ways. There is a reason the Lord tells us to stay pure and to flee sexual sin. Sexual sin is different then other sins and it affects us on so many levels and puts such a barrier in our fellowship with God. I just want to encourage any of you reading that may be wrestling with it. I have been down the road of this sin and it never leads to a good ending. There is forgiveness, there is restoration and healing in a Christ through repentance but it is a road you just dont want to go down. If you have or are right now in bondage to sexual sin know there is a way out. Don’t let shame keep you away from Him. He loves you and is waiting for you to come back to Him and He will forgive and heal your heart and give you beauty for ashes. He will even restore you to purity in that area, nothing is impossible for God. Let’s pray.

Prayer

Heavenly Father we thank you that You always provide an escape for us from sin. Thank You that no matter how much we have sinned and fallen short even in the area of sexual sin, Jesus, Your blood was shed to cover that. I ask that you would work in our hearts and help us to keep ourselves pure before you, especially in the area of our sexuality. Thank you for forgiving us and keeping us safe. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
