Thank You for Not Answering My Call

Devotional Passage

‘You shall have no other gods before Me. ‘You shall not make for yourself an idol [as an object to worship], or any likeness (form, manifestation) of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous (impassioned) God [demanding what is rightfully and uniquely mine], visiting (avenging) the iniquity (sin, guilt) of the fathers on the children [that is, calling the children to account for the sins of their fathers], to the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,  but showing graciousness and loving kindness to thousands [of generations] of those who love Me and keep My commandments.” Deuteronomy 5: 7-10

Heaven’s 911 Dispatcher: 911 what is your emergency, and do you need Jesus or your idol god?

Sinner: I need Jesus, please connect me to Jesus. I’ve been reaching out to Him for a few months now asking Him to bless my relationship, and to stop my partner from cheating. I also asked that He would fix my partner’s heart so that my partner would desire to marry me, but nothing has happen. Could you send Him out to my house, please?

(The Sinner continues to scream uncontrollably)

Sinner: Please hurry up and get Him out here to my home because I’m not going to be able to make it much longer.

Heaven’s 911 Dispatcher: Ma’am/Sir, Please calm down and give me your name and location.

Sinner: My name is Sinner and my location is in the world. Are you sending Him out now?

Heaven’s 911 Dispatcher: Unfortunately Mr./Ms. Sinner, I will have to connect you to your idol god in order for you to speak to someone about your emergency.

Sinner: Why is that? Why can’t you send Jesus out to me here in the world? You do understand that He is the only one who can fix this?

Heaven’s 911 Dispatcher: Mr./Ms. Sinner according to God’s Word in which you are to govern your life, He states that “you shall have no other gods before Him. Due to your life being contingent upon your partner (idol god) being in your life I’m going to have to connect you to your idol god.

Does this call sound all too familiar to you? Have you ever asked for God to grant you something or someone in your life and He didn’t fulfill your request? I’m sure that you have placed a call out to Jesus more than once hoping that he would intercede on your behalf only to find out later that it was good that He did not grant your request.

“He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins [as we deserve], Nor rewarded us [with punishment] according to our wickedness. (Psalm 103: 9-10)

Enter into Prayer with Me

Our Dear Heavenly Father, it is again that we come to You in prayer not asking for anything, but thanking You for everything that you have shielded us from. Father we thank you for covering us in our sins that we know of, and the ones that we know not of. Father we thank You for Your loving grace and mercy that You make new and available daily to us. We thank You for not judging us as our sins deserve, and for just being slow to anger and constantly abounding in compassion and lovingkindness for us. Lord, we thank You for bestowing us with it even after we turned our backs on You. Heaven Father, we worship You on this day in spirit and in truth. And our worship is not based off what You are going to do, but from what You have already done. So we thank You and we give You praise. Amen!
