The Real Me: Unashamed

DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE

“As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.  Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called;  one Lord, one faith, one baptism;  one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. This is why it says: “When he ascended on high, he took many captives and gave gifts to his people.” Ephesians 4:1-8

DEVOTIONAL

Everyone who the Father has called has been assigned a purpose in His kingdom and it is governed by a gift. Everyone will not agree or understand your purpose and gifts. But it is not for you to try and change the perception that others may have of you. Or expect for others to join you in your quest. It is your job to live a life worthy of your calling so the He can get the glory for your life’s story. Remember it is because of who you are and what the Father put in you that qualifies you. So, remember when you start to have those days, weeks, and maybe even years when everything seems to continue to go wrong in your life, you might need to check yourself. Because it just might not be an individual or some entity who is keeping you from your God giving purpose, but you keeping yourself from your God giving purpose. Ask yourself, are you exhibiting a life worthy of the calling on your life? Are you walking in love and not hate? Are you lifting your brother/sister up and not tearing them down? Are you praying for your brother/sister instead of gossiping about them? Who are you to expect for people to come to you bearing gifts when you are always showing up empty handed; that’s if you even show up at all?

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, teach us how to walk in a way that is worthy of our God giving calling that you have placed over our life. Help us to recognize when we have strayed away from Your Holy Spirit and found refuge in the things of this world, and give us the strength to turn from our worldly ways. Guide us so that we continue to make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace, and that we will do it with a joyful heart. We ask these things and all other things in the name of the Father the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
