Who can We Trust?

DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE

“It is better to trust in the LORD than to put trust in man.”  – Psalm 118:8

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Trust should be easy, as we do it every day. We trust our parents to raise us right, we trust drivers on the road, and we trust preachers to give us God’s Word and not their Word. We trust teachers to teach our children and we trust reporters to give us the truth about what’s going on in the world. But no one is completely trustworthy. We are often let down daily. So the question is “who can we trust?”

We all know the answer to this; we can only trust GOD’S Words! I have been let down quite a few times and each time it almost destroyed me, but I did not let it get the best of me. I lived thru it and learned not to trust man because man will betray you — but God will not. Someone recently betrayed me that I would have never imagined. It confused me and hurt me to the core of my being. Eventually, I had to pick up my heart and shake it off because that person was not the first and they surely would not be the last. But it brought this question back to the forefront; whom can you trust? And what do you do if that trust is broken? Do we sit and weep about it? Or we are going to fight through it, as it surely will not be the last, because as we live this life we are bound for many disappointments. I have since come to the realization, if you keep trusting in man you are bound to be in the pit every time asking God the same old question God; why did they betray my trust? But it important that we do as our devotional passage instructs us, to not put our trust in man as they will fail us, it is best to put that trust in our Father and His Word because He will NEVER betray our trust.

DEVOTIONAL PRAYER

God I come before to asking You to give me wisdom to trust and the ability to not hold grudges, and to pray for those who have broken my trust. God I ask You to heal my broken heart and transform my thinking. God I repent for trying to control the situation and for not trusting in You. God I now understand that You knew my trust would be broken before it ever happened, so  God I thank you for giving me the ability to rise above the testing of my faith. I believe that your perfect Will is done in Jesus Name I pray Amen!
