You Turned Your Back

Scripture Reading — Deuteronomy 31:6

We are currently in the month of Elul according to the ecclesiastical calendar (God’s calendar). There are extremely significant points about this month; it is associated the word “Love.” The month of Elul is the month that is key to unlocking the inner and most potent meaning of the heart. The Hebrew letters that makeup the word Elul is aleph, lamed, yav and lamed. Well known sources provide a great understanding of what the month of Elul represents on God’s calendar. At the beginning of the month of Elul we are “achor el achor “ to The Father, meaning “back to back”, and by the time we reach the end of the month we are to be “panim” to The Father, which means “face to face”. This month is significant to one’s relationship with The Father. And, I know what you are thinking, but how could this be? The word states that The Father would never leave us of forsake us. In this month The Father (God) is standing in the field, and He is accessible now more than ever. The Father is awaiting the fields of our everyday lives; so why aren’t you going to Him, searching for Him through wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. You should be really going after His face this month more than ever, and not just His hand. So I pose the question again, how can The Father turn His back on His sons and daughters? Have you ever done something so awful that you didn’t know if you could forgive yourself; not to mention to even petition the forgiveness of friends and family? That very moment things begin to get out of control; it’s like there’s some spiral effect of bad things that keep occurring in your life. And, because you can’t seem to muster up the strength to forgive yourself; you decide to continue down this path of sin. But I’m here to tell you my brother and sister that God will forgive you of all of your sins, and all you have to do is ask. So, I’m asking this question for the third time; how can God turn His back on His sons and daughters? Well, the real question should be why have you stopped trusting in God, and turned your back on Him? You have allowed your sins to push you further and further away from The Father. But, He is still crying out for His prodigal child to come back home to your first love. I’m telling you now that His grace is sufficient; just try Him and stand on His word. This month it is of the upmost importance for us to be willing to pivot around to God, and let go of the past hurts, our old ways of thinking, and the “do it yourself” mentality. The truth is The King has never had His back turned to us; we had our backs turned to Him. But He is patiently awaiting our return; so let’s meet Him in the Field for our inheritance, our double portion. Be strong, courageous, and firm; fear not nor be in terror before them, for it is the Lord your God Who goes with you; He will not fail you or forsake you.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your love, grace, and mercy. We thank You Father for being more than enough. You are so not like man. You don’t inquire about the things of our hearts; so that You can condemn us for them. But instead You rid us of the things that are not of you, so that our flesh can die and you can live in us. We ask that You would continue to allow The Holy Spirit to guide us daily in spirit and in truth so that we will no longer miss the mark. And, when we do fall short of the mark (not if but when), because we know that we will; You give us the strength to get back up and continue the journey. Father please continue to love on us with Your agape love, even when we can’t seem to love ourselves. We ask for Your forgiveness for the things that we have done, and for the things that we are going to do in Jesus Name we pray. Amen, Amen, and Amen.
